Sanvar Shop

Sanvar Shop

2026

Sanvar is a live online store selling home goods, art supplies, appliances and toys. It has two sides: the storefront customers see, and the panel used to run the business — products, prices, deals, orders, shipping and reviews. Buyers don't need an account: they pick what they want, pay by debit or credit card, and then track the order with a code. Under the hood it is two separate projects, the store in Next.js and its API in NestJS with PostgreSQL, deployed on AWS.

Key Features

  • Catalog with search, categories and daily deals, and a cart that is still there when you come back, even without an account
  • Debit and credit card payments, plus order tracking by code with no sign-in required
  • Shipping by region and district, with the free-shipping rules the store sets from the panel
  • Admin panel: products and prices, bulk import from Excel, image library, orders, sales metrics and review moderation
  • Holiday mode to pause sales, and help, shipping and returns pages that can be edited without touching code

Challenges & Learnings

Beyond building the store, I set up its entire infrastructure on AWS: the server with Docker, the domain, HTTPS, and transactional email configured to stay out of spam. Since the server is in the United States and the customers are in Chile, images are served from a CDN with an edge node in Santiago so the store loads fast. Every change deploys automatically and the database is backed up daily.
